Gods Divine Discernment

Psalm 139:1-6

Psalm 139:1 <To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.> O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. 5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Introduction: The word omniscient is a big theological word that simply means God is all knowing. While that may not be a news flash to you I believe when we realize the personal impact of an all knowing God and how He affects our life it will be something very real. Is there anyone here who hasn’t committed sin today? Of course not, and if you feel like you haven’t, well that is your first one and I bet there are many more ahead of that one. Fact is we all have sin in our life, sin that may be unintentional, sin that may be like Brother Kelly’s stealth sin or maybe its one of those sins we intentionally do and hang onto because we feel there is justification for it. Maybe it’s a sin of commission or one of omission (explain). I refer to these as skeletons that hang in our spiritual closets. Guess what, God knows about them too. It is time the church wakes up and really realizes that God has an intimate knowledge about us, a knowledge that goes much deeper that most of us want to think about. If the fires of revival are really lit in your life you understand the need to have the veil of religion pulled back and allow God to show you what needs to be changed in your life. Will you notice with me how…

I.       God’s knowledge should develop within us a relationship.

O Lord - Yehovah {yeh-ho-vaw'}

Meaning:  Jehovah = "the existing One" 1) the proper name of the one true God

Our association with God requires our Reverence and devotion because He is…

A.    You know me

As I know my children

B.     You know when

As I know when

C.    You know why

When I do and when I dont

II.     God’s knowledge should develop within us a reaction.

A.    You know my movement

Does your walk reflect your talk?

B.     You know my motive

Does your service have a hidden agenda?

C.    You know my morals

Does your foundation shift as the sand?

Mat 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

III.  God’s knowledge should develop within us a reverence.

A.    You know my past

B.     You know my present

C.    You know my pursuit

Conclusion: Sometimes we don’t let people get to know us completely because we are afraid they will discover something about us that they won’t like. Or they may find out something we felt was hidden and long lost. And we fail to remember that God already knows everything about us, even down to the number of hairs on our head, and God stills loves us. Through every situation, trail, He wants to protect us, love us and guide us. God knows us and His greatest gift is to allow us to know Him, through Jesus Christ.
