The fruit of a faithful few

Mark 2:1-12

Introduction: These twelve verses tell the story of a paralyzed man who met Jesus and the effects of that meeting. But there are several stories that lurk behind the scenes and its one of those I want to focus on today. I want us to look at the testimony of four men and how they made a difference in the life of this paralyzed man. These four men were what I call the faithful few they had a mission and they were not going to be denied. While the multitude stood by and were concerned with only what they could get from Jesus these four were concerned with who they could get to Jesus. Most churches today are blessed with a faithful few, those are the few men and women who carry a burden for the Lord and will not be denied the opportunity to see it through. Look with me today as we find the fruit of a faithful few.

I.       They are persistent

1.     In their search for Jesus

2.     In their burden

II.     They are persuasive

1.     When faced with obstacles

2.     When faith needs feet

III.  They are prepared

1.     To introduce people to Jesus

a)    Through Prayer

b)    In Person

2.     To be invisible

3.     To be invincible

Conclusion: Are you part of the faithful few today? Do the spiritual and physical needs of other people burden you to the point of being moved to do something about them? Out of the multitude of people who stood by and listeded to Jesus preach, some of them probably saying amen, some nodding their heads in agreement and shrugging their shoulders at the religious crowd, only four new what it really meant to know Jesus. It was important to find those who needed Him and get them to Him by any means necessary. Are you part of that faithful few today? As our musicians come with a hymn of invitation I ask; if you are here you cant remember a time when you accepted Him as your Saviour I ask you to come forward, let me share some scripture with you and pray with you. If you’re a Christian but you haven’t been part of the faithful few, you haven’t been concerned about your responsibility to lead others to Jesus, today is an opportunity to turn all of that around. As we sing will you come.
