Discipleship
Luke 9:57-62
Intro: Discipleship is someone who follows
the teaching, training or instruction of another. In this, case those who
follow Jesus. I hope everyone understands this simple fact; if you are born,
again you are a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Being disciple is not
something you are called to do, it is not something you volunteer to do, at the
time you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior discipleship is something we are
expected to do. Tonight I want to begin a series of Wednesday night messages on
discipleship. Look with me as the Lord gives a Job description.

V.62
About looking back
(a) It doesn’t mean you loose your salvation.
(b) It does mean God can’t use you if you’re not willing.
You as an individual have made the decision, not to fit into God’s family.
Conc.: God has some simple
assignments for you and I, there not difficult tasks. The work of being a
disciple is not just for the preachers, teachers, deacons and those folks. God
expects each one of His children to be a disciple and expects them to follow
his directions. As this series continues, we will look at these directions and
further understand what God expects from us and how He expects us to use it and
handle it. I hope you can walk away tonight with the understanding that being a
disciple is something we are expected to do and we should be willing to do. God
doesn’t guarantee an easy road to walk but He does tell us He will prepare the
way. If you have decided to look back, I hope you understand it doesn’t have to
be permanent you can repent, make things right with God and go on with being
the disciple He wants you to be. Would you pray with me please?
