Making a difference

John 6:1-14

John 6:9

Intro: The miracles Jesus worked touched the lives of ordinary people. Being impressed they followed Him from town to town and village to village wanting to see what was going to happen next. We can easily see how Jesus made a difference in the lives of these people but have you noticed that Jesus used the actions of others to make a difference? Lets look at the actions of a young man and how these actions were used to make a difference. Notice with me...

I.  The Lad

     A. Was sensitive

He recognized a need to feed the people.

     B. He sacrificed

Five loaves and two fish were all he had, but he gave it.

     C. He was sold on Jesus

The lad believed Jesus could use his gift.

II. The Lunch

     A. Was humble

          (Small in size)

     B. Was hallowed

          (Set apart for Gods use)

     C. Was helped

          (Multiplied by the Lord)

III. The Lord

     A. Was willing to help the people

     B. Was working for the people

     C. Was illustrating to the people

Conc. When we make ourselves available to the Lord by being sensitive to the needs around us and sacrifice what we have to Him in faith and obedience great things can happen. We don’t have to give a lot; the Lord can take something small and create great returns on our investment. But it takes a willing person with a faithful heart. We can all ask ourselves this question, do I have the willingness and faith this little boy had? There’s no indication he ask any questions, he just took what he had and made it available. I believe there is a lesson for us in his actions and attitude.
