Who Is Wise?

Text: James 3: 13-18

Intro: Point out; wisdom- isn’t education, experience. It is a chosen direction. It is a testimony; we all have one, it tells where our wisdom comes from, what we do with it, how/if we share it.

1- A Person’s life will be their testimony

     (A) Conduct (conversation)

     (B) Performance (works)

     (C) Disposition (meekness)

     (D) Direction (wisdom)

Ill. That testimony will come from one of two sources of wisdom.

2- Natural wisdom (mans knowledge, mans way)

    (A) Comes from; what we want our prejudice, selfishness,

man’s desires, self glorifying.

    (B) What it creates; commotion (uncertainty), produces results that are good for nothing.

3-Gods wisdom (His knowledge, His way)

    (A) Is; undefiled and all knowing, contains no prejudice, patient, easy to deal with.

    (B) Produces; forgiveness for others, a useful person, someone not influenced by outside sources, a sincere Christian.

Conc: A wise person according to James is summed up in verse 18, a person whose life is in submission to the authority of God. A wise person is a person who is spiritually unshaken by the troubles the world brings upon them. A wise person is able to direct others to this type of life, an assurance in eternal life. Are you a wise person? If you had to stand before Jesus today and He ask you, why should I let you into my Heaven? Would you have the right answer? Christian are you as wise today as you once was? As the musicians come and get us a song of invitation. If you don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus, or maybe your not sure about your relationship, then your wisdom is in the wrong place. Will you come?
