The focus of a Church

I Cor. 3: 5 -10

Theme: With the massive influence of political correctness, relative truth and situational ethics has the Church lost her focus?

Introduction: All of Paul’s letters were written to local churches. That tells me Paul had an interest in the local church and the impact it has on the immediate community. Paul loved people, he desired to see them saved and he loved seeing them grow in the knowledge of God’s word. He saw the local church as Gods tool to do this. For the church to function as God’s means of evangelism, edification, and instruction three things must be present. All three of them are found in our passage. Look with me as we discover how directs the focus of a church through...

Conclusion: To impact this world for Jesus two things must happen. First, our Christian leaders must get away from the idea of “look what I have done” and second the average Christian has to get away from “what about me”.  Both of these stumbling blocks have hindered many churches and many churches have thrived because they have avoided the big “I” approach. This message can help you in two ways, first if you are dealing with the big “I” temptation get away from it, ask God to take it away and get it out of your life, and then leave it out of your life. Second if you haven’t fallen into this trap, let this be an encouragement and a warning to avoid it. Either way this message can speak to you this morning and strengthen your walk, influence and impact.
