Being Noah today
Genesis 6:8-13
Introduction: We know that Noah lived in wicked times, the behavior of mankind had gotten so bad that time had come for Judgment. Have you ever noticed in the pages of scripture that God has a way of dealing with degenerate man? The more degenerate man gets the greater and more definite God’s testimony gets. God always a special man for the circumstances, there was Moses, Elijah, and Daniel and before the flood God had Noah. The world was crumbling around him but Noah stood like granite pointing to God and testifying of the judgment to come. From age to age God raises up those unique, specially chosen vessels of His, people endued with special power from high. Part of Gods selection process is looking at the hearts of people and selecting those willing to serve. Noah was energized by God because he was willing to serve and do what God needed. Regardless of who agreed or disagreed, Noah was willing to stand for what was right. Are you willing to be a Noah for today’s generation? God needs men and women who are willing to take a stand for what is right. Men and women who are honest and truthful willing to do more that just talk about living for God but live, teach and be a witness for the love, compassion and even the judgment of God. What does it take to be a Noah in today’s generation, the same thing it took to be Noah in his generation? Let’s look at what the word of God has to say about being a Noah today?
I. Forgiven (V.8)
Key words
“Noah found grace in
the eyes of the Lord”

grace, elegance 1b) favour, acceptance; also know a unmerited favor, getting
something not deserved.

A. righteous in character in conduct (Just)
B. Blameless (Perfect)
C. Obedient (Walked with God)
III. Fruitful ( V.10)
Key Words
Begat – literally speaks to fathering three sons, metaphorically speaks to the fruit of his obedient walk with God.
Noah’s immediate fruit was his three sons’. However that small and insignificant looking fruit developed into the world’s population today.
The fruit of your labor for God may seem small, but don’t be discouraged, you may not see the results of your obedience. Shem, Ham and Japheth didn’t, but they have impacted a planet because of Noah’s fruitful obedience. I’m not necessarily talking about reproducing people, I am talking about reporting the gospel to everyone we can, every opportunity we have, we don’t know what impact we may have in someone’s life.
Conclusion: Do you have the three ingredients to be Noah today? First of all are you forgiven, born again and on your way to heaven. Second are you faithful to the things of God in your life. I didn’t ask if you were faithful to the church, or to services or to family or job or anything like that. Are you willing to let God use you to reach others; are you willing to let God develop in you the service of Noah? Third are you fruitful today? At the end of your day can you look back and really find spiritual fruit? Do you get closer to God on a daily basis or farther away? Do you realize that God really does need you to carry out His will here on earth? Do you need work on any of these areas? Maybe God has revealed some other area in your life that needs work this morning, if so as our musicians come and prepare for us a hymn of invitation would you step out and deal with what ever it is God has revealed to you.
