Realizing God

Exodus 33:7-16

Theme: Most of the world today has no problem recognizing God, as long as they can do it in their own way, however very few people ever come to the point where they realize who God is.

Introduction. Our scripture talks about Moses meeting with God, the book of Exodus records many meetings between Moses and God. Each one has a very special meaning and this one is no different. As I studied this past week, I realized there were circumstances that set this meeting apart. You see this meeting didn’t take place after Israel murmured against Moses, it didn’t take place after Israel violated the Sabbath day and it didn’t take place after their situation with the Amalekites. It took place after Israel committed idolatry by making and worshipping the golden calf. Moses knew some things needed to be settled between Israel and God. Look with me as we see Israel move from recognizing God to realizing God.

Explain how the Tabernacle relates to this scripture. The pieces were completed but it had not been assembled. Moses was meeting with God in his tent. Israel’s failure came about after they became satisfied with an incomplete work for God.

Conclusion: Moses was able to leave this meeting with a comfort that God would go with him and be ever present. Israel was soon to realize that entry to Canaan wasn’t the end, it was just the beginning. Realizing God soon became important to Israel. It is important to you and I today as well. How about you this morning, can you say that you realize where God is in your life. Do you have the proper relationship, rapport and resolve?
